Name: Eric Tollner
Age: 33
Been running since: 17 - school athletics when I was being chased doing the 800m on sports day. Managed to avoid coming last by crossing the line gasping and spluttering ahead of one guy! Never imagined I'd ever be running further than our 5km cross-country distance!
Montrail athlete since: 2005
Hometown: Newcastle, KZN
Favorite superhero: Buzz Lightyear
Snacks on the run: a pocket full of super-salted baby potatoes!
Quote to live by: All men dream but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible. T.E.Lawrence
Shoe of choice: Montrail Hardrock
Real Job: Goldsmith & Sculptor
My idea of training is: variety variety and variety! Uphills, downhills, over mountains and through valleys, crossing rivers, and ducking under waterfalls! And don't forget to take in the view from the top!
Greatest moment of glory: Finishing my first PUFfeR and realising ,wow, it can actually be done!
Upcoming Race plans: resting now after trail season, next run either Bat Run or the Hell Run in Feb.
Advice to first timers: Never lose the enjoyment of being in these beautiful mountains!
