On the 19th April I won our first major provincial race for the year which was held on the Misverstand dam up the west coast. It was a K2 race so I partnered up with fellow club mate Lance King. It was a great race as all the top provincial paddlers were there and we beat them convincingly.
On the 26th,27th & 28th April I took part in the SA Sprint Champs in Durban where I finished 8th Overall in the Open Class. I made 4 A Finals and 2 B Finals and walked away with 1 Bronze medal for the 1000m K2 Final. With these results I also made one of my dreams come true by qualifying for the SA Under 23 team to tour Germany for the U23 World Cup in June 2008.
On the 10th May the Western Province Marathon champs was held in Muizenberg. Unfortunately I was sick and unable to race but still went across to show my face and give some support to others. I wrote a letter of apology and a request to still be in contention for the Western Province team to go to SA Marathon Champs in Witbank on the 24th May. They accepted and now I will be representing WP at another SA event.
