The festival kicked off with the Quantum Adventures Adventure Sprint Race, which saw 79 teams of two braving the cold water of the Palmiet for an early morning river crossing followed by a 4km stretch of whitewater rafting. The race course also included hiking, running, navigation and crossing the river via a rope traverse. The next event was the Montrail Palmiet Trail Run. 140 runners completed the course, which took them through the beautiful Capenature Kogelberg Nature Reserve and back along the banks of the Palmiet. The CapeStorm Downriver Kayak Race was a closely contested affair which saw over 30 paddlers tackling the whitewater of the Palmiet in their plastic kayaks and ending with the class 4 rapid, Judgement Day. The event was dominated by SA made Fluid Kayaks.
